LED wing tip position light. These use the BL 3000 series LED arrays from Lamina Ceramics. Right now the LED arrays are expensive, about $80 each form Mouser.

The 5052 aluminum plate the LEDs mount to is a heat sink. It is 1/8 inch thick I used 5052 so I could bend the mount plate. Use thermal heat sink compound between the LED and the heat sink.

Here the LED is on, and overloading the cameras sensor in the bright regions. The green LED is operated at 1 amp and the red one at 2 amps. This current is determined by a series resistor.
